How Does 3D Puff Digitizing Differ from Traditional Digitizing?
While traditional and 3D digitizing produce embroidery files, puff digitizing must be approached differently to ensure the final product is clean, raised embroidery.

1. Stitch Density Settings
In traditional digitizing, to ensure designs remain soft and flexible, we set a standard stitch density of about 0.4mm.
In 3D digitizing, a standard stitch density of about 0.2mm to 0.25mm needs to be used as the stitches sit tightly to fully cover the foam (and thus no foam is allowed to show).

2. Stitch Length and Width
In digitizing flat embroidery, short and tight stitches can be used. In contrast, a stitch that is too short in 3D puff will flatten the foam (and thus kill the 3D effect). Thus, long and wide stitches, satin stitches, are required as the needle has to jump across the foam.
